Slowly and quietly, he walked out of his bedroom and down the hall, sipping his tea. He walked down the dim hall into the moon-lit living room, breathing lightly. There was someone by the window. Standing, looking out. The figure stood silohuetted in moonlight, facing outside. He had his hands in his pockets. The moonlight cast dancing shadows into his ebony black hair.
Trunks gasped.
The figure turned slowly and drew his hands out of his pockets, making eye contact with Trunks. His eyes were like deep pools. They were full of something that Trunks couldn't identify. But it made him feel cold and dead inside.....
He began to walk toward Trunks.
Gohan had a very serious look on his face, which brought out the odd look on his handsome face. He stopped several feet from Trunks. Trunks's face was a mixture of shock and happiness; although the joy was struggling to break free, overridden by the shock.
"Trunks."
Trunks felt shivers run up his spine like icy fingers as the quiet yet powerful voice spoke his name. Trunks felt tears come to his eyes. He reached his hand out to Gohan's cheek. It was trembling like a leaf in a frozen November wind.
"Gohan," he managed to whisper. He drew in a shuddering breath. Gohan's face broke into a sad yet sweet smile as his long lost friend touched his face.
"It's been so long....."
"Too long," added Gohan,"I didn't even know if you were alive anymore. When Goten....died.......and you dissapeared, I was so worried...."
"I'm fine," snapped Trunks, much too quickly to actually convince Gohan he was fine. His body had tensed at Goten's name. A single tear ran down his paper white cheek, and his knees buckled. He fell into Gohan's arms. Gohan caught Trunks's body, noticing how much more slender he was now than he had been as a teen. A frown crossed his face. But he led Trunks to the couch and sat down, holding Trunks akwardly for a few moments before he became comfortable.
"Shhh....." he crooned into Trunks's ear, "let it out....let it all out....."
Trunks cried for a long time, the sadness of all these years finally breaking out.
"I....I loved him...." he murmured, laying his cheek on Gohan's warm chest.
Gohan looked down at the twenty-four year old. His face was creased with sadness. "He loved you more than you'll ever know."
Trunks drew in a shaky breath and closed his eyes. Gohan stroked Trunks's hair until they both fell asleep.
Part Three
I really haven't decided how this one is gonna turn out. Any hints? I'd appreciate it a lot!
